Olympics : Pictures of war

Olympics carries a message of peace and harmony. That is exactly what does not happen when you think of Olympics in India.

Sandeep Kumar is a champion wrestler. He won gold at the Russian wrestling championships. He was a champion at the age of 15. He joined the Punjab police force(Punjab is a state in India). He would have got a berth in the Indian squad for Olympics. He was the complete Indian national. His parents and even their parents were Indian. He did not get a berth in the Indian squad to Beijing. He might not get us even a Bronze but still he could have got a berth. No, he didn't and I'll tell you why. Four years ago he migrated to Australia. He loved wrestling, so he couldn't ignore the invitation from United wrestling in Melbourne. He drove a taxi and spent a part of his income for his wrestling training there. He got selected into the Australian squad to Beijing Olympics. He created history by being the first foreign national to get a place in the Australian Wrestling squad to Olympics. Click here. If this Indian wins gold there, the Australian national anthem will be played. Many believe this could not have happened had the officials been less corrupted. The cynic opinion is that some less deserving person bought off this place which should surely have been Sandeep's.
Countries spend millions to get their athletes the best possible conditions to bring out the best possible results, India doesn't look as if it cares. I don't want to dig deep. The pictures of war to get into Olympics can be very smelly. I'll stop here.
